India Cuts 90% of the World's Diamonds. It's Time We Wore Them | Xazina

Made in India. Made for the World.

Those five words are not a marketing line. They are a declaration - that India, the country that cuts and polishes over 90% of the world's diamonds, that carries one of the oldest jewellery traditions in human history, does not only supply the world's fine jewellery. It designs it. It names it. It wears it, on the world's greatest stages, as itself.

Think about that number. Nine in every ten diamonds that end up in a ring in Paris, a necklace in New York, or a bracelet in Tokyo - pass through the hands of a craftsman in Surat first. His hands shape the facets. His eye calibrates the symmetry. His skill transforms a rough stone into something that catches light in a way that stops a room.

And then the diamond leaves. It travels to workshops abroad, gets set under a foreign name, and enters the global luxury market - where the story told about it rarely begins with India, and rarely ends there either.
India has been the invisible hand inside every fine jewellery piece sold globally for generations. The craft has always been Indian. The story told about it, rarely so.

This is the gap that Xazina was built to close.

What lab grown diamonds change

Lab grown diamonds are not a compromise. They are, by every scientific measure, identical to mined diamonds - the same carbon structure, the same hardness, the same brilliance. The difference is origin: one is pulled from the earth at enormous environmental cost; the other is grown with precision, in a controlled environment, without the ecological and ethical complications that have followed the mined diamond industry for decades.

India leads here too. Some of the world's finest lab grown diamonds are grown and cut here. But again, the story rarely reaches the consumer with an Indian name attached to it.

Xazina changes that. Every piece is designed in India, crafted in India, certified for quality and ethics, and named by an Indian brand - one that is unapologetic about where it comes from and what it stands for.

What Cannes means

This year, Xazina’s Jewellery walks the Cannes red carpet for the first time with The True Imperfections.

This is not a vanity moment. The Cannes Film Festival red carpet is one of the most photographed and closely watched spaces in fashion and luxury. Every piece worn there becomes part of a global conversation about beauty, craftsmanship, and cultural relevance.

An Indian lab-grown diamond brand appearing on that carpet says something important: Indian luxury belongs on the world stage - not only as a supplier, but as a name, a design voice, and a creative force of its own.

This is what Made in India, Made for the World looks like when it moves beyond a slogan. A necklace under the lights of Cannes. A piece called The True Imperfections, carrying the name Xazina - and behind that name, the work of Indian craftsmen, cutters, setters, and designers who have shaped the diamond industry for generations.

It’s time we wore them.
